Dear 2009, You were a very interesting year. I celebrated your arrival without any knowledge of what you had in store. You brought ups and downs as most every year does. I was given hope by the inauguration of the United States first black President, Barack Obama. I was given trust issues, but worked them out all in the name of loving someone, flaws and all. I learned to love ”because of” and not “in spite of.” During your time, I realized that one shouldn’t funeralize dead relationships … but rather adequately mourn them and move on. Yes 2009, you were truly a rollercoaster of life-lessons. And now your time with us has ended. I do not mourn your departure but instead I celebrate the arrival of your successor. 2010 will undoubtedly have its own share of tragedies and triumphs, however I feel that you helped to better prepare me for whatever is to come. Through you I have become wiser and I am grateful for the knowledge and wisdom that has been imparted upon me. But now you are gone and I have no fear of what is to come nor do I have remorse for what has past. I only have faith that things will work out, for all of us, the way that God has intended them to.
